When you want to create any passive income stream, every single step is very important. Because at every step you learn something new, at every step you gain new knowledge, and every step slowly takes you towards your success. These small steps together make your future strong and take you to a level where you get the real reward of your hard work.

In 2019, when I was a teenager, I had a dream to earn money online. At that time the trend of online earning was also very popular. Like others, I too used to watch videos of new people on YouTube, do courses and research how to make money sitting at home.

That journey was not easy, but every video, every course and every attempt gave me an opportunity to learn something new. Slowly I understood that just watching videos does not help, the real difference comes when a person takes action. And the same step by step action will take you towards your destination today.

I tried every way, went to Fiverr, Upwork. Created three channels on YouTube, uploaded a few videos, reached where I was doing well. But the problem was that I could not understand the guidelines and the work would stop. But one thing was clear: I wanted to make something. Despite every struggle, this feeling becomes strong in the heart that if you keep learning, keep getting up and falling, then one day you will definitely get success.

Working Hard Without a Proper Strategy Is Like Wading in the Dark

I was not able to understand how to achieve my goal because I did not have any clients. And the fact is that to reach the clients, not only skills but also a direction and strategy are required.

This is why I was confused that I am doing hard work but where is the result? Then I understood that working hard without a proper strategy is like wading in the dark.

Opportunity Comes When You Are Ready

Now the fact is that to reach success you do not need any ready-made opportunity. Opportunity itself comes to your doorstep when you have the passion to create something, to achieve something. That means first you have to prove with your hard work and dedication that you are ready. When you have this passion and consistency, then everything in the world becomes a path for you.

The Unexpected Chance That Changed Everything

What happened one day, after so much struggle, I was scrolling through Instagram and got an unexpected chance. An opportunity came in front of me on a science page.

That moment was different for me, because before that every time there used to be some obstacle. But this time it felt as if Allah has opened a new path for me. The opportunity I got from a simple scroll changed my thinking and made me realize that sometimes success is found from the place where you do not even expect it.

The opportunity was actually that the owner of that page said that he wanted a sample of content writing. Just a sample: free of cost. Meaning someone who would write for him without paying any money so that he could see how the work is done.

This Small Step Became the Turning Point of My Journey

At that time maybe other people would say “why write for free?”, but for me it was a golden opportunity. Because I knew that if I did this sample correctly, then it could become a door for me.

I took advantage of that opportunity and wrote and sent the sample he had asked for. My topic was on pandemic, because in 2019 there was a pandemic which was being discussed everywhere. I wrote after doing research from my heart, in a simple and engaging style. Because for me this was not just a sample – it was an opportunity to prove that I can write and provide quality content.

And this small step itself became the turning point of my journey. At that time during the pandemic, people needed a lot of information. But the problem was that at that time there was not much information available in the form of proper blogs. I myself was a science student, so whatever knowledge I got from my studies and research, I gathered it all in one place.

I combined all the authentic information I got and whatever I read myself and made a structured and valuable content. And then I made that content my sample and sent it. For me, this was not just a sample, this was my first chance to prove my skills and knowledge. The sample I sent him, he liked it so much that he directly published it on his website in the form of a blog post.

The Offer That Started My Passive Income Journey

When he published my sample on his website, the unexpected thing happened that he started getting huge traffic on that post. People liked that content because it was authentic and informative.

I thought my work was over and after that I did not have any contact with him. But within a week the owner of that blog himself came back to me.

When that owner came back to me, he talked to me and said:

“I liked your sample very much. The article you wrote brought a lot of good traffic to my website. I want you to work regularly for me.” At that time I could not believe it – as if the opportunity itself had knocked on my door.

This was an unbelievable moment for me, because at that time I was completely stuck in my journey. I could not understand what the next step would be. But this very moment gave me my first official client.

Then I wrote almost 8 blog posts for him. When he saw that my sample was so strong, he also told me:

“I will give you money for the sample too, because your work is very valuable.”

Hearing this, I got more courage, because the work which I did just for a trial and chance, I got reward for that too.

That’s where I realized that if a person works hard and gives his best, even a small opportunity can become a life-changing chance.

The real Payment Struggle and My First $34 (passive income)

But after that the next step was: taking payment from the client. And this became the biggest issue of my journey.  PayPal did not support in my country, and my client had absolutely no knowledge about Payoneer and how to operate it. Meaning on one side the work was completed, the client was happy, but on the other side receiving payment became a new challenge.

At that time, I realized that freelancing is not just a game of skills and clients, but it is equally important to understand the correct payment methods and international platforms.

Because the transaction was not happening, I thought that maybe everything was over now. I did the work, the client was also ready, but I was not getting the money. At that moment it seemed that maybe my hard work had gone to waste.

But in reality it is not so. Whoever does real hard work, definitely gets the fruit and fruit. So this is exactly what happened, when I felt that nothing else would be possible, I took help from one of my relatives so that my transaction could come to me. And then finally I received my first payment, $34 from my first client.

This $34 might be a small amount for someone else, but for me it was a huge milestone. Because this payment gave me the confidence that my skills are valuable, my hard work has paid off, and I can continue in this field.

Why I Didn’t Continue With That Client

My blogs are still published on that client’s website. But I stopped working with him because there was always an issue of transactions.

I thought it was okay, whatever work was done was enough. At least for me it was an experience, a journey from which I learnt and achieved my first milestone.

That’s why my blogs are still published on his website, but my journey with that client ended there. But the lesson and confidence I got became a lifelong asset for me.

The Lessons That Changed My Perspective

Looking back, this experience taught me several valuable lessons:

1. Take the First Step, Even if It’s Unpaid

The first step, whether it is paid or unpaid, if you get an opportunity, you must grab it. Every step gives a new learning.

2. Value Relationships Over Money (At First)

Building trust and relationship with clients is more important than money. Money comes later, but only relationships give you long-term growth.

3. Your “Rizq” (Sustenance) Will Find You

No matter where you live, what resources you have, or how small your start is, if you work hard and trust the process, opportunities will come.

4. Learn to Solve problems wisely

Problems come in every journey. Do not let negative thoughts take place in your heart and mind. Everything takes time, and at the right time you get your result.

The Bigger Picture: Passive Income Starts Small

Success Formula

• First of all, choose a skill that you like and you are naturally interested in it.
• Then find the right platform for that skill – like Fiverr, Upwork, YouTube, or Instagram.
• Get on that platform and always do quality work. Offer value and not just service to your clients.
• Work hard, don’t take shortcuts. Because work that is done with diligence and dedication always yields results.
• Mark my words; As long as you work hard, you will definitely get the result. But if you move towards shortcuts, work will be spoiled and growth will stop.
